Khwaja Muhammad Sazzad Hossian Shawon, the son of Md. Shahjahan was born on the 20th of November, 1987, at his hometown in Chandpur. In 1988 his family moved to Mirpur, Dhaka. Shawon got enrolled in his first music lesson at the Shikha Music Academy in Mirpur in 1994.

Shawon was exposed to media from a very early age. Prominent national radio artist Md. Salamat Hossain was among the first of his music demonstrators. Shawon took a break from pursuing music in 2004. In 2006, he got enrolled in BAFA (Bulbul Academy Of Fine Arts) and completed his 4-year certificate course in Nazrul Sangeet. During the same year, Shawon formed his first band DIVANWESHI.

After passing his H.S.C. in 2007 he decided to pursue a career in music and therefore took B.Muse (Hons. in Nazrul Sangeet) at Shanto Mariam University of Creative Technology as his Major. From then onwards he started a more professional approach to his music career.

Shawon Gaanwala is currently specializing his Sufiana method, in which both the western and the eastern, specially Indian Melodic Classical music is involved.

Influences : Shawon Gaanwala is influenced by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ustad Rashid Khan, Mohammad Rafi Sahab, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Kailash Kher, Scorpions, Bryan Adams and John Denver.

Works : Shawon Gaanwala worked at three mixed albums till now. With the band FLY in Abbhudoy (2008), Droho (2009) and a solo mixed pro in collaboration with Tinu Rashid in Shwapno Chhobi (2010). Gaanwala co-ordinated a solo album by Z.A.Tito. He contributed his lyrical talents to Z.A.Tito’s album WAADA (2009) Shawon was the assistant sound engineer at Studio Music Bangla. Now he is working in his own studio JONTRO_NA. At present he is also serving vocal duties for the band ECLIPSE & 12A.M. Shawon Gaanwala left the FLY at April 2011.

Shawon Gaanwala is trying to make his music rich with all acoustic instruments specially used in the sub-continent. And more ambitious to make fair melodics.
